Campaign ID

Campaigns are the core feature of Engage+, as they are the delivery mechanism by which you will send content via a particular marketing channel to the intended audience of recipients. Every Campaign in Messaging is assigned a unique identifier referred to as a Campaign ID (or often just "Camp ID"). This value is generated by the platform when the Campaign is launched, or when a Web Page is published.

While the Campaign ID value is unique for each Campaign, users should be aware that leveraging certain features in Messaging will generate additional Camp ID values. A common example is Cells and Splits. When Cells and Splits are applied to a particular Campaign, the Campaign is divided into smaller segments (or cells), and each cell is then assigned its own unique Campaign ID value (click here for more details and to view an example).

Many clients' marketing needs require the consumption of Campaign activity back into their own internal systems, or they require such data to be consumed by a third party. If you require a view of activity from a “global” Campaign perspective, you will want to consider the utilization of one or more of the following Campaign related entities to achieve this level of uniqueness, as the system-assigned Campaign ID on its own will NOT achieve this goal for you:

  1. Campaign Name

  2. Campaign Folder structures

  3. Campaign Send Date

  4. Campaign Metadata

Such details should be considered when determining requirements related to campaign organization, execution, reporting, and/or exporting Campaign activity data out of the Messaging platform.
