The Link Click Activity report provides additional detail on the quantity and timing of link clicks that occurred as a result of the Campaign.
The "Summary" section provides counts for all of the tracked links in your Campaign content. The metrics listed in this section are:
Records Clicked: The total number of clicks actions recorded. The report shows Unique clicks, the percentage of the Messages Sent that resulted in Unique clicks, and the total number of clicks.
To view Records Clicked information broken out by message type (HTML, Plain Text, etc.), click the down-arrow icon within this row. The report displays additional rows, with Record Click information by message type.
Message Link Clicks: The total number of unique Message clicks recorded. The report shows unique clicks, and the total number of clicks.
Social Link Clicks: The total number of unique Share-to-Social clicks recorded. The report shows unique clicks, and the total number of clicks.
To view Social Link Click information broken out by social media platform, click the down-arrow icon within this row. The report displays additional rows, with Social Link Click information by platform.
Average Clicks / Record: The average number of times links are clicked by an individual. For example, let's say that five people have received a message. Person A clicks five links, Person B clicks two links, Person C clicks four links, Person D clicks ten links, and Person E clicks one link. The value would read 4.4 (5+2+4+10+1 / 5).
Clicked Multiple Links: The total number of recipients of a Campaign that clicked on at least two or more links.
Clicked One Link Multiple Times: The total number of recipients of a Campaign that clicked on the same tracked link at least two or more times.
The above counts represent a segment of the Campaign's total audience. Some of these segments can easily be turned into Filters and Export Templates. If you click on the desired count, the system displays a pop-up menu with two options: "Create Filter" and "Create Export."
For example, let's say you want to create a Filter out of the "Records Clicked" segment of your Campaign audience. If you click on the "Records Clicked" count, then select the "Create Filter" option, the system will create a Filter with a rule consisting of the Filter Activity "Link Clicks," with this Campaign as the Activity criteria.
The "By Time" section depicts the link clicks generated from this Campaign over time. The timeline groups all clicks, from all tracked links, together. If you hover your mouse cursor over a data point on the timeline, a tooltip is displayed that provides additional detail (date / time, and the number of clicks).
The "By Link" section breaks down the Campaign click activity into further detail, by listing each link that was tracked within the Campaign content. For each tracked link, this section shows the number of unique clicks and total clicks.
A bar graph is displayed next to each of these links. These bar graphs are proportional to each other, and are intended to provide a quick, visual way of comparing links. The link with the highest count will have a "full" bar.
By default, the list of links is sorted by Unique Clicks in descending order. To sort by a different column, click on the title for the desired column. The list is refreshed to sort by that column in ascending order. Click the same column a second time to toggle the sort order to descending.
The "By Link" section also allows you to drill into more detail about a specific tracked link. See Link Detail Report below for more details.
Link Tags are an organizational tool that can be used to classify links into custom groups for reporting and tracking purposes. The Link Click Activity report will show click responses rolled up by Tag value, allowing you to analyze the combined performance of a group of links. For example, you could assign all of the links in your navigation menu with the Tag "navigation." This Tag could then be used to view click activity for all links with the "navigation" Tag. Link tags are a Campaign-level setting; these tags can't be defined on the Link Library screen, but instead only on the Campaign screen.
To view additional detail about a specific tracked link, click the desired row within the "By Link" section. The Link Detail report is displayed, which shows the URL for the link, along with the following metrics:
Records Clicked: The number of unique people who clicked on this tracked link, and the total number of clicks for this link, including the bot clicks. The report displays additional rows, for each message type (HTML: real clicks, bot clicks and total clicks, Text, etc.).
Social Link Clicks: The number of Share-to-Social clicks recorded for this tracked link. The report shows unique clicks, and the total number of clicks.
When finished viewing the Link Detail report, click the "X" icon in the top-right corner of the report to return to the Link Click Activity Report.
