Journey Metrics

Overview

The Journey Metrics feature displays a series of key reporting metrics across the top of the screen. These metrics reflect how many consumers have entered the journey, exited the journey, and are currently active within the journey. For exits, the platform indicates the number of positive / negative / neutral outcomes. Within the flowchart depiction of the journey, the platform displays a number next to each step, indicating how many consumers have completed that step within the time period under consideration.

Additional options and features available within Journey Metrics are described below.

The Journey Metrics feature provides step-level details to illustrate how consumers are moving through your journey.

To view source and destination journey metrics for Action or Wait steps:

  1. In the Tool Bar, click the Journey Metrics icon.

  2. Click any Action or Wait step. In the left-hand pane in the Step Insights section, the platform displays a detailed breakdown of the following:

  • From: Each possible source step is listed, along with the number and percentage of consumers that passed through that source step on their way to the selected Action or Wait step.

  • Actions Processed: For an Action step, the number and percentage of consumers successfully processed by the selected Action step.

  • Waiting: For a Wait step, the number and percentage of consumers who are currently waiting.

  • To: Each possible destination step is listed, along with the number and percentage of consumers that progressed to each destination step.

In addition to showing metrics within the left-hand pane, the platform also displays these metrics within the flowchart depiction of the journey, superimposed onto the connector lines attaching to the selected Action or Wait step.

For Decision steps, Journey Metrics allows you to analyze the impact the Decision step has on the outcome of a journey. For consumers who have already completed their journey, you can see how these consumers flowed through the chosen Decision step and which Exit step they took at the end of their journey. This impact reporting will help you to understand the relative performance of each decision branch in driving to your desired outcome.

To view the impact reporting for a Decision step:

  1. In the Tool Bar, click the Journey Metrics icon.

  2. Click any Decision step. In the left-hand pane in the Decision Insights section, the platform displays a detailed breakdown of the following:

  • From: Each possible source step is listed, along with the number and percentage of consumers that passed through that source step on their way to the selected Decision step.

  • Decisions Made: The number and percentage of consumers successfully processed by the selected Decision step.

  • To: The "Yes" and "No" branches are listed, along with the number and percentage of consumers that progressed down each branch. In addition, the platform lists all of the possible Exit steps under both "Yes" and "No." These metrics allow you to measure the impact of the Decision step by showing the final result of the journey for consumers who progressed down the "Yes" path versus the consumers who progressed down the "No" path.

In addition to showing metrics within the left-hand pane, the platform displays the same metrics within the flowchart depiction of the journey, superimposed onto the connector lines attaching to the selected Decision step, and onto the various Exit steps as well.

By default, Journey Metrics shows lifetime statistics over the entire history of this journey. Optionally, you can filter the metrics by a specified time range:

  1. In the Tool Bar, click the Journey Metrics icon.

  2. In the top-right corner of the screen, click the calendar icon.

  3. From the calendar pop-up window, click the desired start date of the reporting range.

  4. From the calendar pop-up window, click the desired end date of the reporting range. The metrics update to show only the statistics from the defined date range.

  5. Optionally, instead of picking a start and end date, you can use the links within the calendar pop-up to select common date ranges, such as "Yesterday" or "Last 30 Days."

  6. To remove the date range filter, click the "X" icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

When setting up a journey for the first time, you won't have any "live" data to show in Journey Metrics. The platform allows you to instead depict sample test data. You may find this feature useful to help you visualize how your journey will function. To enable this feature:

  1. In the Tool Bar, click the Journey Metrics icon.

  2. Click Use Example Data near the top of the screen. The platform populates the reporting metrics with numbers drawn from a large sample data set containing results representative of a typical journey.

  3. To toggle back to live data, click Use Real Data
