Role Details: Permissions

Overview

The Permissions tab on the Role Details screen is used to view and manage the access privileges granted to users in this Role.

The Permissions tab provides the following features related to managing user account Roles:

 Searching and Sorting

The Permissions tab provides a variety of options for searching for permissions.

Search

The search feature allows you to search for a specified text string anywhere within the following fields: Resource Name or Resource Label.

  1. Optionally, in the search field near the top of the Permissions tab, enter the desired text string.

  2. Press Enter, or click the search button (magnifying glass icon).

  3. The Permissions tab screen is refreshed to show only the permissions that meet your search criteria. 

  4. To remove all search criteria, click the remove button ("X" icon).

Sort

The "Sort" drop-down menu allows you to sort the permissions on a variety of different fields. To sort the list of permissions, select the desired sort option from this menu.

  • Latest (default)

  • Oldest

 

  Define a New Permission

To define a new permission for this Role:

  1. From the "Select Resource" drop-down menu, select an EDP asset or item type.  

  2. From the second drop-down menu, select a permission type: Read (user can view this asset type), Write (user can create this asset type), or Admin (user has full access privileges for this asset type).

  3. Click create. The new permission is added to the list of permissions.

  4. Repeat the above steps as needed to define additional permissions. 

Batch Actions

Instead of adding each permission individually as described above, you can assign ALL permissions available within the platform:

  1. From the "Batch Actions" drop-down menu, select one of the following:

  • Add Missing as Read: Add all remaining assets, and assign a permission type of Read.

  • Add Missing as Write: Add all remaining assets, and assign a permission type of Write.

  • Add Missing as Admin: Add all remaining assets, and assign a permission type of Admin

  1. A confirmation dialog box is displayed; click confirm

 

 Change Permission Type

To change the permission type for an existing permission:

  1. Next to the desired permission, click the Edit icon. The "Edit Permission" pop-up window is displayed.

  2. Select a permission type: Read (user can view this asset type), Write (user can create this asset type), or Admin (user has full access privileges for this asset type).

  3. Click save

 

 Delete a Permission

To delete a permission:

  1. Next to the desired permission, click the Delete icon. A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  2. Click confirm.  

Batch Actions

Instead of deleting each permission individually as described above, you can delete ALL permissions:

  1. From the "Batch Actions" drop-down menu, select Remove All Permissions. A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  2. Click confirm.
