Advanced Editor -- Adding URLs

Overview

The Advanced Editor allows you to drag-and-drop links into your message content. The available link types are displayed within the Personalization Pane.

Features

 Add a Web Form (PURL)

Click hereClick here

To add a link to a Web Form within your message content:

  1. Within the text editor, position your cursor where you want to insert the Web Form URL.

  2. Click the "Personalization & Library" bar along the right-hand side of the screen to expand the Personalization Pane.

  3. In the Personalization Pane, click on the "Library" section to expand it. The Library section is used to add assets to your message content.

  4. Within the "Library" section, double-click on "Web Form (PURL)" (or, optionally, you can drag "Web Form (PURL)" from the Personalization Pane, and drop it into the text editor at the desired insert location). A "Browse Web Forms" pop-up window is displayed.

  5. From the "Browse Web Forms" pop-up window, you can click on a folder in the directory structure to see a list of all the Web Forms stored within that Folder. Or, if you want to search across the entire system, click the double-left arrow icon near the top of the directory structure; the system collapses the directory structure and shows every Web Form in the system. This pop-up window also allows you to search based on Tags, or by name. When you find the desired Web Form, click on its name.

Note: Web Forms have to be created using the same source table as the Campaign in order for them to be available as a selection.

  1. A dialog box is displayed. From the "Domain" drop-down menu, selected the desired domain to use for this Web Form. Click ok.

  2. The system inserts the URL for this Web Form into the message content at the current cursor location. If this Web Form uses a Web Authentication, the Web Authentication fields are included as a query string within the URL.

Note: If you're using a Web Form in conjunction with a Personalized URL (PURL), the Web Form containing the PURL must be bound to the Campaign, which also causes the platform to populate the PURL Field.

 Add a Barcode Image

Click hereClick here

Engage+ supports the inclusion of barcodes into your email marketing Campaign. Barcodes can then be printed out by the consumer and brought into a store to gain access to a special offer or promotion. Or, the consumer can bring up the email message containing the barcode and scan the barcode right from the smartphone.

Note: Barcodes are also available in the print Channel, but only if you're using PageFlex to create the print content, and have the necessary PageFlex plug-ins installed.

Within Engage+, you can configure your email Campaign to generate a static barcode for each Campaign (all recipients of the Campaign receive the same barcode) or unique barcodes for each user (each individual receives a unique barcode). Unique barcodes on a user-level basis can be generated using personalization (see "Personalized Barcodes" below).

Barcodes are inserted within the HTML version of a campaign (triggered and regular one-off) and using an image tag.  The barcode never expires and is generated on the fly. The barcode is a dynamic .png image file. Below is an example of a barcode image:

The barcode URL format is: https://<subDomain>/ats/barcode.ashx

For example:

Domain will be customer specific for each brand or it can be the generic "ats.ccmp.eu" domain.

Add Barcodes to a Campaign

To add barcodes to an email Campaign:

  1. Within the text editor, position your cursor where you want to insert the Barcode.

  2. Click the "Personalization & Library" bar along the right-hand side of the screen to expand the Personalization Pane.

  3. In the Personalization Pane, click on the "Library" section to expand it. The Library section is used to add assets to your message content.

  4. Within the "Library" section, double-click on "Barcode Image" (or, optionally, you can drag "Barcode Image" from the Personalization Pane, and drop it into the text editor at the desired insert location). A "Barcode Image" pop-up window is displayed.  (additional Advanced Parameters are described below in more detail).

  5. If you're using a static barcode, enter the value or code in the "Barcode" field. If you want to use a personalized barcode instead, leave this field blank (see "Personalized Barcodes" below for more details).

  6. From the "Domain" drop-down menu, select the desired client domain.

  7. From the "Type" drop-down menu, select either "1D (Code 39)" or "2D (PDF417)." Additional barcode types are supported by Engage+, but must be entered directly into the HTML code (see "Advanced Parameters" below for details).

  8. Click ok. The system creates a new URL for this Barcode Image, and inserts it at the current cursor position (or at the drop location if you drag-and-dropped the item from the Personalization Pane).

  9. You can also manually add an "image" HTML tag to the URL, as shown here:

<img src="http://client.test.domain.ashx?bc=55555">

Query String Parameters

Below are details on how to dynamically render a barcode based on query string values passed in. Details show configuring the different barcode types,  specifying the size of the generated barcode and encoding options.

URL:

http://temp.ccmp.eu/ats/barcode.ashx?bc=EXPERIAN&t=true&e=13&w=200&h=100

https://ats.ccmp.eu/ats/barcode.ashx?bc=4070071967072&e=16&t=true

 The parameter details of  the example barcode URL are:

http://temp.ccmp.eu/ats/barcode.ashx?bc=BARCODE&t=true&e=4&h=50&w=210

where:

bc =  value used to generate code. This can be hardcoded or use unique codes per email for personalized barcodes.

  • The personalization merge fields can be pulled from the Engage+ Content Block or Campaign page. If needed your account team can send you the personalization field values you require.

  • It will look like this: bc={(DB_PERSONALIZATION_FIELD)}

t = true to show readable digits below barcode (default is false if it is not in query string)

e = Encoding

  • e = 4 is code39 (default is code39) See the other encoding options in the table below in Advanced Parameters > Encoding section.

h = Height – valid only if Width is entered

w = Width – valid only if Height is entered

  • If the width specified is not big enough for the values passed, it defaults to the default size. You can then change the width and height as needed.

Advanced Parameter

Click HereClick Here

In addition to the basic barcode parameters described above, Engage+ supports several advanced parameters.

Readable Digits

By default, the barcode image in your email message will not display readable digits beneath the image. If you want to display readable digits, enter "&t=true" into the barcode URL, as shown in the following example:

<img src="http://client.test.domain.ashx?bc=55555&t=true">

Image Dimensions

If you want to specify the dimensions of the barcode image, you can manually enter the height and width by entering "&h=[height in pixels]&w=[width in pixels]" into the barcode URL, as shown in the following example:

<img src="http://client.test.domain.ashx?bc=55555&h=50&w=210">

If specifying the image dimensions, you must provide BOTH the height and the width.

Encoding

Two basic barcode types, "1D (Code 39)" and "2D (PDF417)," are available for selection from the "Barcode Image" pop-up window, as described above. The system supports several other barcode types as well. The following table lists all of the available barcode types, and their associated ID.

* Encoding type 4 (Code 39) is the default type; if you don't specify an encoding type within the barcode URL, the system will utilize this type.

To specify an encoding type, enter "&e=[ID]" in the barcode URL, as shown in the following example:

<img src="http://client.test.domain.ashx?bc=55555&e=7">

Personalized Barcodes

As described above, the "Barcode Image" pop-up window allows you to enter a static value that will be the same on every email message in your Campaign. If you want personalized barcodes instead, you must specify the personalization field that you want to use, and insert the Merge Code for that field into the proper place in the Barcode URL.

To create personalized barcodes:

  1. Create a barcode as described above, leaving the "Barcode" field blank within the "Barcode Image" pop-up window. After you add the "image" HTML tag, your Barcode URL should look like this:

<img src="http://client.testdomain.ashx?bc=!ENTER_VALUE!">

  1. Delete the "!ENTER_VALUE!" text. Then, with your cursor positioned to  the right of "bc=", click the desired field from the Personalization pane. The system will insert the Merge Code for that field name into the URL, as shown in the following example:

<img src="http://client.testdomain.com.ashx?bc={(name_last)}">

 Add a Hosted Item

Click hereClick here

A Hosted Item refers to an asset, such as an image, that's hosted within the Messaging platform (see Hosted Items for more details).

To add a Hosted Item to your message content:

  1. Within the text editor, position your cursor where you want to insert the Hosted Item.

  2. Click the "Personalization & Library"  bar along the right-hand side of the screen to expand the Personalization Pane.

  3. In the Personalization Pane, click on the "Library" section to expand it. The Library section is used to add assets to your message content.

  4. Within the "Library" section, double-click on "Hosted Item" (or, optionally, you can drag "Hosted Item" from the Personalization Pane, and drop it into the text editor at the desired insert location). A "Browse Hosted Items" pop-up window is displayed.

  5. From the "Browse Hosted Items" pop-up window, you can click on a folder in the directory structure to see a list of all the items stored within that Folder.  This pop-up window also allows you to search based on item name. When you find the desired Hosted Item, click on its name.

  6. The system inserts the Hosted Item's URL at the indicated position. If you're inserting an image (of type PNG, JPEG, JPG, GIF, TIFF, or BMP) into the message content, the platform will automatically add the HTML image tag around the image filepath. For example:

<img src=http://namwpm.eccmp.com/wpm/394/images/header_image.png>

 Add a LINE URL

Click hereClick here

A LINE URL is a special system-generated URL that's used in the process of linking a consumer's LINE identifier (called the "LINE MID") and email address. This linkage is required if you want to use consumer demographic information in your LINE Campaign (such as adding Personalization Fields, for example), or if you want to execute a cross channel strategy that incorporates both LINE and email channels. For more details on this process, please see LINE Cross Channel Marketing.

The link between the consumer's LINE identifier and email address is established using a unique identifier called the "LINE Token." The LINE URL contains your LINE Account name and the consumer's unique LINE Token. For example:

https://line.me/R/oaMessage/@LINE_Account/%40TOKEN%20{(LineToken)}

When the consumer clicks this link in an email message, the LINE application opens, and the message is automatically populated with: "@TOKEN <LINE Token>." When the consumer sends this LINE message to Messaging, the platform is able to establish the link between his or her LINE MID and email address.

To add a link to a LINE URL within your message content:

  1. Within the text editor, position your cursor where you want to insert the LINE URL.

  2. Click the "Personalization & Library" bar along the right-hand side of the screen to expand the Personalization Pane.

  3. In the Personalization Pane, click on the "Library" section to expand it. The Library section is used to add assets to your message content.

  4. Within the "Library" section, double-click on "LINE URL" (or, optionally, you can drag "LINE URL" from the Personalization Pane, and drop it into the text field at the desired location).

  5. The system creates a LINE URL, and inserts it at the indicated position.
