Google Analytics

Overview

Engage+ integrates with Google Analytics -- a free service offered by Google that provides website tracking, reporting, and insights into your customers. Reports from Google Analytics are then made available from within the Messaging platform, to help you review the performance of your Campaign.

Pre-requisites

To use Google Analytics in your Engage+ Campaigns, you must have a Google Analytics Account defined and configured within Google, then you must "register" that Account within Engage+. Before you can register your account, the following steps must be completed.

  1. You must have a Google account -- navigate to www.google.com to create an account.

  2. You must add Google Analytics to your account -- navigate to https://www.google.com/analytics to sign up for Google Analtyics.  

  3. You must have a Google API Project -- navigate to https://console.developers.google.com to create an API Project.

  4. For the API Project, generate the Client ID and Client Secret. You'll need these two values when registering the Google Analytics Account in Engage+.

To register your Google Analytics Account within Engage+:

  1. Click + New above the list of existing Google Analytics Accounts. A blank Google Analytics Account details screen is displayed.

  2. In the "Application Name" field, enter a name for this new account.

  3. In the "Client ID" field, enter your Google Analytics Client ID.

    To find your Google Analytics Client ID:

      1. Log in to the Google Developers API Console:  -- https://console.developers.google.com

      2. In the left-hand navigation menu, select "Credentials."

      3. From the list of projects, click on your project name.

      4. Your Client ID is displayed on the project details screen.

     

  4. In the "Client Secret" field, enter your Google Analytics Client Secret.

    To find your Google Analytics Client Secret:

      1. Log in to the Google Developers API Console:  -- https://console.developers.google.com

      2. In the left-hand navigation menu, select "Credentials."

      3. From the list of projects, click on your project name.

      4. Your Client Secret is displayed on the project details screen.

     

  5. Click authenticate. A confirmation window is displayed. Click allow. The "Auth Code" field is populated with your authentication code.

Note: If you are logged into your Google account, you may encounter an error during this step. We recommend you perform this process with a web browser that isn't currently logged into your Google account.

  1. Click get token. The "Refresh Token" field is populated with your authentication token.

Note: You need to request the token within one minute of requesting the authentication code, or less the authentication code will expire, and you'll need to start this process over.

  1. Click save.

 

 

 View or Edit a Google Analytics Account

To view or edit a Google Analytics Account within Messaging:

  1. When the screen is displayed, a list of all the current Google Analytics Accounts is displayed in the left-hand side of the Workspace. Optionally, you can filter this list by typing in all or part of an Google Analytics Account name in the "Search by Name" field.

  2. Click on the Google Analytics Account that you want to view. The Workspace is refreshed to show the details of the selected Google Analytics Account.

  3. Make any necessary changes to the Google Analytics Account information.

  4. Click save.
