 Rename Clusters

When a new Clustering Model is executed, the Clusters identified by the Model are assigned default, non-descript names, like "Cluster 1," "Cluster 2," etc. The best practice is to provide custom, descriptive names for these Clusters, to make the reports more meaningful and easier to read. Using the model results displayed on the Insights tab, determine the distinctive qualities of a Cluster, such as demographics or behavior. Use those qualities to determine a good descriptive name for the Cluster.

Note: A Build query must be completed before the rename capability is enabled; a Scoring query must be completed for the naming changes to take effect.

To rename the Clusters in a Clustering Model:

  1. Click the Edit icon. The "Edit Machine Learning Model" pop-up window is displayed.

  2. Select the Basic Properties tab.

  3. In the Cluster Renaming section, click the Edit icon.

  4. Enter the descriptive name for a Cluster. Repeat this step as needed.
